JUSTICE SHIVAJI PANDEY ORAL JUDGMENT Date: 05-02-2018 Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned counsel for the State.

In this case, the petitioner is seeking arrears of salary from 01.10.1987 to 31.05.1992, which has not been paid to him so far even though the petitioner has retired from the service. A counter affidavit has been filed, wherein it has been stated that a service book has been properly regularized and proper entry has been made and further stated that entire payment including

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the amount of salary for the period from 01.10.1987 to 31.05.1992 has been paid in the year 2018 and as such, the petitioner is entitled to penal interest.

Admittedly, the respondents have paid the aforesaid amount after a long lapse of time. Let the respondents pay interest on the principle amount at the rate of 6% per annum. The payment should be made within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order.
