This writ application has been filed for issuance of a direction to the respondent-authorities particularly respondent no. 4 Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj, to consider and decide the case of petitioner for compassionate appointment.

Father of petitioner was in police service posted as Havildar in Gopalganj Police Line who died in harness on 13.11.2006 and mother of petitioner had pre-deceased him and petitioner is his only son who was aged 17 years at the

Patna High Court CWJC No.18113 of 2018 dt.15-06-2020 2/3 time of death of his father and thereafter petitioner pursued his studies and passed madhyama examination in 2013 and Up-shastri Examination in the Year-2015.

Petitioner filed an application on 03.02.2014 for compassionate appointment before the Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj, but no decision has been taken upon his application for his appointment on compassionate ground in spite of several representations and reminders sent to the Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj.

The writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj, before whom the application of petitioner for appointment on compassionate ground is pending who shall consider and decide, said application within three months from the date of receipt/production of a copy of the order passed by this Court.

It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion with respect to merit of the claim of petitioner or his entitlement and same is to be decided by the Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj, in accordance with law and in terms of scheme for compassionate appointment.
