Petitioner in the present case is seeking a direction in the nature of writ of mandamus to the respondent authorities to consider the case of the petitioner for appointment on compassionate ground.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the unmarried younger sister of the petitioner died in harness and as per letter no. 22/Anu-05/2012 Sa.Pra. 16973 dated 10.12.2014 issued by the General Administration Department, Government of Bihar, the brother of unmarried government employee would be entitled for consideration. Learned counsel submits that the petitioner has applied for his appointment and the same is pending consideration with the competent authority. Learned counsel for the State submits that it is for the competent authority to look into the eligibility and other conditions of engagement on compassionate ground and for that purpose an appropriate direction may be issued. In the given facts and circumstances, without going into the merit of the contention of the petitioner, this Court directs the respondents to consider the grievance of the petitioner, examine the same and in case the petitioner is found eligible to be considered for appointment on compassionate ground in terms of the Government's policy, the same be done within a period of six months.
