JUSTICE CHAKRADHARI SHARAN SINGH ORAL JUDGMENT & ORDER Date : 30-10-2017 The petitioner is a teaching institute, imparting B.Ed. Course. It seeks direction to the respondent-National Council for Teacher Education (in short 'the NCTE') to grant recognition with additional intake of 100 students, in addition to existing 100, with effect from the academic session 2017-18. The petitioner has been granted recognition from the session 2018-19.

2. Learned counsel, appearing on behalf of the NCTE, has produced before me, copy of an order, dated 15.09.2017, passed by the Supreme Court of India, in M.A. No. 347 of 2017 in W.P. No. 276 of 2012, from which it appears that an application for extension of time for grant of affiliation has been refused. The last date for grant of recognition and affiliation has already expired.

This Court, in the light of the order of the Supreme Court, dated 15.09.2017, does not find it proper to entertain the plea of the petitioner-institute, though it is the stand that it was because of laches on the part of the NCTE, that the said application for grant of recognition/affiliation for additional 100 seats remained pending.
