This application, for grant of anticipatory bail, arises out of Bhimpur Police Station Case No. 32 of 2017, disclosing offence under Section 392 of the Indian Penal Code. Learned Counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner has submitted that his name has surfaced only on the basis of confessional statement of co-accused, which has no evidentiary value.

Be that as it may, considering the severity of the offence and the fact that the petitioner's custodial interrogation may be required and he may be required to put on test identification parade., I am not inclined to grant the petitioner

This application is, accordingly, dismissed.

The petitioner, Ranjeet Kumar @ Abhimanyu Raj @ Abhimannu Raj, is directed to surrender before the Court below within a period of four weeks from today and seek regular bail, if so advised. If he does so, his application for regular bail shall be considered by the learned Court below on its own merit without being prejudiced by rejection of present application for grant of anticipatory bail.
