Matter relates to providing drinking water to the residents of the village Bhagwanpur under West Chandour Gram Panchayat, in the District of Saharsa.

Patna High Court CWJC No.4273 of 2018(5) dt.09-08-2019 2/3 We have already passed a detailed order on 12.7.2019 requiring a response from the concerned authorities in the State Government as to the time within which potable drinking water would reach the villagers. A supplementary counter affidavit has been filed by the Executive Engineer, PHED, Saharsa and paragraphs 7 to 10 informs that the process has been initiated in this direction and that by March, 2020, the residents of Chandaur (West) Panchayat shall be provided potable drinking water. Paragraphs 7 to 10 of the supplementary counter affidavit filed on behalf of respondents no. 1 to 4 runs under: "7. That in Chandaur (West Panchayat), under Saur Bazar Block the scheme of providing clean and safe drinking water has already been initiated under "HAR GHAR Nal Jal Yojana" for which tender has already been invited in different date of July and the scheme is likely to be completed by the month of March, 2020.

8. That a detailed chart is being submitted with regard to the current status of the "HAR GHAR Nal Jal Yojana" in Chandaur (West Panchayat) under Saur Bazar which has been prepared on 24.7.2019.

9. That the Public Health Engineering Department is determined to provide safe and clean drinking water not only to the inhabitants of aforesaid Panchayat rather whole of State of Bihar under

10. That as stated above the residents of Chandaur (West) Panchayat shall be provided potable drinking water by March, 2020."

In view of the undertaking so given by the State Government in its Public Health Engineering Department, we dispose of the writ petition reminding the concerned authority to abide by the same lest it invites a contempt proceeding. (Jyoti Saran, J) ( Partha Sarthy, J) Surendra/- U
