JUSTICE ANIL KUMAR UPADHYAY ORAL JUDGMENT (Per: HONOURABLE THE CHIEF JUSTICE) Date: 11-09-2017 This writ petition has been filed in public interest and the petitioner wants that the State Government and its Administration should be directed to issue Rules and Regulations for preventing threats of life to Journalists. To evaluate the necessity of making Acts, Rules and Regulations for the safety of Reporters/ Journalists and other persons working in the filed of media, the petitioner has pointed out various attacks on journalists and prayed that some preventive measures are required to be taken. Learned counsel invited our attention to a newspaper
Patna High Court CWJC No.12376 of 2016 dt.11-09-2017 2/2 cutting dated 22nd June, 2015 Annexure-1, whereby the Supreme Court has issued necessary guidelines in the matter of killing of journalist to U.P. Government. Similar orders passed by the Delhi High Court is also brought on record vide Annexure-2. The respondent-State Government has filed a detailed reply and having pointed out that with regard to the two incidents which happened in the State of Bihar, the State Government has already taken action in the matter which is pending consideration before the appropriate court. As far as issuance of guidelines are concerned, it is stated that already action is underway and no further directions are issued.
Taking note of all the facts and circumstances of the case and action already taken by the respondents, we see no reason to make any further indulgence into the matter. The writ petition stands disposed of.
