2. The petitioner is aggrieved by the fact that he has not been appointed on compassionate ground even though he had been representing before the concerned authorities, ever since he become eligible, for such appointment after the death of his father in harness in the year 2001.

Learned counsel for the petitioner has drawn the attention of this Court to the fact that every time the prayer made on behalf of the petitioner was negatived on the ground that no posts were available in Grade-IV, the posts on which only the petitioner could be appointed. Later, a decision was taken by the employer to outsource all Grade-IV posts.

4. However, this Court is not entering into the aforesaid grounds for the reason that the death took place in the year 2001 and 18 years have now passed by.

5. Compassionate appointment is not an alternative mode of appointment and is resorted to only for the purposes of offering solace to a family in distress, where the bread earner has died suddenly causing financial disruption in the family.

6. Because of the passage of long time, this Court, howsoever sympathetic approach it may have, is not ready to accept the contentions of the petitioner.

7. There is no merit in this petition and the same is dismissed.
