JUSTICE ANIL KUMAR UPADHYAY ORAL ORDER 24-02-2020 Heard learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner and learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State. The claim of the petitioner for appointment on compassionate ground is pending before the respondents. The father of the petitioner died in harness on 20.08.2016. Although the petitioner's application was forwarded by the Headmaster of the school to the District Programme Officer for appointment on compassionate ground on 24.11.2017, the matter is still pending under consideration.

The idea behind appointment of a person on

Patna High Court CWJC No.3191 of 2020(2) dt.24-02-2020 2/2 compassionate ground is to provide social security in the nature of financial support to the family members of the bread-earner who died in harness.

Considering the aforesaid, the writ application is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to take appropriate decision with regard to the claim of the petitioner for appointment on compassionate ground at the earliest preferably within a period of three months from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order. While taking decision, the respondents are under obligation to take into account the report of the High Powered Committee contained in Memo No. 1275 dated 26.01.2019 whereby the High Powered Committee shall recommend the case of the petitioner for appointment on compassionate ground against class III or IV post if the petitioner is found suitable.

With the aforesaid, the present writ petition stands disposed of.
