Heard learned counsel for the petitioner as well as learned counsel for the State.

The petitioner apprehends his arrest in a case registered for offence under section 420 and other allied sections of the IPC.

It is alleged that the petitioner, while working as an agent in the LIC, fraudulently withdrew the proceeds of informant's policy amounting to Rs.4.10 lacs and odd by surrendering the photo stat copies of his policy bond and passbook. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that earlier the petitioner was LIC agent in 1999, but he left the said job in 2002 and presently he is a practising lawyer in the Civil Court, Munger. He submits that in fact this case has been filed in collusion with the staff of LIC to save their skin. FIR has been lodged after lapse of three months without explanation. While opposing the prayer for bail, learned counsel for the State submits that during investigation, there is sufficient material against the petitioner to show that he cheated the informant by withdrawing his policy proceeds.
