2. The present writ petition has been filed seeking following reliefs:

"(i) For issuance of a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondents not to harass the petitioners in their peaceful married life.

(ii) For issuance a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondent no. 2 and 3 to ensure the protection of life and liberty of the petitioners and provide adequate protection from the respondent no.4 so that the petitioners may live their matrimonial life peacefully.

(iv) For issuance of any other writ, order or direction which this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper in the facts and circumstances of the case."

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that though the petitioners have given a representation to the Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj vide annexure- P/4, the Police has not taken steps for protection of life and liberty of the petitioners who have entered in an inter-caste marriage and have been facing continuous harassment and problem from the father of petitioner no. 1, namely Parmeshwar Manjhi, who is respondent no. 4. The petitioners apprehend danger in the hands of respondent no. 4, who is father of petitioner no. 1.

4. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State respondents submits that as per her instructions, the petitioners are married and they have settled in Kanpur.

6. Without going into the details, since the petitioners claim to have solemnized an inter-caste marriage and they apprehend some danger from respondent no. 4 and they have already made representation to Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj vide annexure- P/4, a copy of which has also been

WJC No.379 of 2026(2) dt.16-07-2026 3/3 sent to Station House Officer, Police Station Manjhagarh, the Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj as well as SHO, Manjhagarh (respondent no. 2 and respondent no. 3 herein) are directed to act upon the representation made by the petitioners to ensure the protection of life and liberty of the petitioners from any real threat brought to their notice by the petitioners.

7. With the aforesaid direction, the present criminal writ petition stands disposed of.
