The petitioner has filed the present writ application to consider his case for appointment on compassionate ground. Compassionate appointment was introduced with a view to provide financial assistance to the family of employee died in harness.

The father of the petitioner died in harness on 17.10.2016 while working as Assistant Teacher in Government Upgraded Middle School, Belwa in the district of West

Patna High Court CWJC No.4491 of 2020(2) dt.05-03-2020 2/2 Champaran.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that after the death of the bread earner, the petitioner has completed all the formalities required for compassionate appointment, yet no final decision was taken one way or the other till date. Under the aforesaid circumstance, the writ application is disposed of with a direction to the respondent District Programme Officer (Establishment), West Champaran, Bettiah to take appropriate steps for final decision on the claim of the petition for compassionate appointment.

In the event, the petitioner is not found suitable for appointment as Panchayat Teacher, the respondents have to consider the case of the petitioner for appointment on Class-III and Class-IV in terms of the recommendation of the High Power Committee as contained in Memo No. 1275 dated 26.09.2019. Necessary decision on the claim of the petitioner must be taken by the respondents within a maximum period of three months from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order.
