In this case, the petitioner is apprehending his arrest in connection with Kharagpur P.S. Case No. 174 of 2013 (G.R. No. 1368 of 2013) for offence under Sections 384, 385, 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

An allegation has been made that the petitioner has demanded a ransom of Rs. 1,00,000/- from the Informant. When the Informant refused to pay the same, then a demand of Rs. 75,000/- was made and ultimately the amount was reduced to Rs. 35,000/-. An allegation has been made that the petitioner has come to the house of the Informant and under threat and coercion took away Rs. 5,000/- from the Informant.

Patna High Court Cr.Misc. No.10002 of 2016 (2) dt.03-03-2016 There is specific allegation against the petitioner of demand of ransom. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that it is very unnatural that the petitioner will go to the house of the Informant and will take Rs. 5,000/-.

Looking to the nature of allegation, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, the prayer for anticipatory bail of the petitioner, namely, Manoj Singh is rejected.
