Petitioner seeks bail in a case registered for the offences punishable under Section 7 of the Essential Commodities Act.

Petitioner was driver of the vehicle on which 55 quintal of rice and some paddy was seized. Submission of the petitioner is that the offence under Section 7 of Essential Commodities Act is not attracted, as rice is not a controlled item, nor the petitioner is a P.D.S. Dealer.

Considering the aforesaid facts, let the petitioner, above named, be released on bail on furnishing bail bond of Rs.20,000/- (Twenty Thousand) with two sureties of the like amount each to the satisfaction of learned
