The petitioner seeks bail in connection with Kursakanta (Sonamani) P.S. Case No.41 of 2016 registered under Sections 341, 324, 448, 307, 504 and 506/34 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 53B of the New Excise Act.

Regard being had to the specific allegation made against the petitioner that he was in drunken condition and also assaulted one Sumitra Devi with sickle causing sharp cut wound in the abdomen, I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner for the present. Accordingly, the prayer for bail is rejected. In case the trial is not concluded within nine months from the date of framing of charge, the petitioner may renew his prayer for bail in the court below itself.
