The present petition has been filed seeking the following relief :- "(i) For issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to pay arrears of differences of salary of the post of Sanitary Supervisor from 20.03.1979 to 10.04.2012 with all consequential benefits to the petitioner."

At the outset, the learned counsel for the petitioner seeks liberty on behalf of the petitioner to avail such other alternative remedies, as are otherwise available under the law
