2. In this writ petition, the petitioner has prayed for the following relief:- "1. That the present writ application is being filed for issuance of an appropriate writ, order

2/4 or direction, particularly in the nature of Mandamus, directing the respondent authorities to make payment of the arrears of salary due to the petitioner, which amounts to a total sum of Rs. 13,55,184.75/- (Rupees Thirteen Lakh Fifty Five Thousand One Hundred Eighty Four and seventy Five Paisa only).

It is further prayed that this Hon'ble Court be pleased to direct the respondent authorities to calculate and pay compound interest at the rate of 12% per annum on the aforesaid arrears from the date the same became due till the date of actual payment, and to pay the entire accrued interest along with the principal arrear amount.

It is also prayed for grant of other relief/reliefs for which the petitioner found entitled to the facts and circumstances of this case."

Counsel for the petitioner submits that for payment of difference of arrears of salary for the period 2006-13, the petitioner, who was an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and presently retired from service on 30.06.2025, is said to have filed an application for payment of arrears of salary before the Principal of the J.D. Women's College, who is said to have forwarded the claim of the petitioner to the Registrar/Finance Officer, Magadh University, Bodhgaya vide letter no. 383/22 dated 01.06.2022 (Annexure P/1) and letter no. 682/23 dated 15.07.2023 (Annexure P/2) but, for the

3/4 unexplained reasons, till date, the same has not been adjudicated.

4. On the other hand, counsel for the Magadh University submits that the petitioner may be directed to file a fresh representation, giving reference to the letters sent by the Principal, J.D. Women's College and, as also, the chart, which is prepared by the college duly signed by the Principal and other office bearers and, on filing of such representation, the Registrar of the Magadh University may be directed to adjudicate the same.

Considering the aforesaid submissions of the parties, this Court directs the petitioner to file a detailed representation before the Registrar, Magadh University within a period of four weeks form today along with a copy of this order and, on filing of such representation, it is expected that the Registrar, Magadh University will immediately take into consideration of such materials previously sent by the Principal of the J.D. Women's College and, after verifying the claim of the petitioner, necessary decisions shall be taken within a period of eight weeks thereafter and benefits, if found admissible, the same shall be paid to the petitioner within the said period, as stated above.
