Today learned counsel for the respondent - step mother Asha Devi, on instruction, submitted that she is drawing a sum or Rs. 12,030/- towards pension. Though it is sufficient as on this day to maintain herself that apart her son is working and he is also earning.
Further it is submitted that the matter is pending consideration since the year 2008 as on the date of presentation
Patna High Court CWJC No.16809 of 2008(8) dt.29-08-2022 2/2 of this petition, she was getting pension for a sum of Rs. 6,000/- per month which was meager and her son was not working as on the date of presentation of this petition. On the other hand, petitioner's counsel and petitioner submitted that petitioner is drawing a sum of Rs. 36,000/- per month. In the light of these facts and circumstances and the fact that the present petition is pending consideration since the year 2008 and in order to give quietus to the litigation, the petitioner Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Karn is hereby directed to pay a lump sum an amount of Rs. 2.5 lakhs. The aforesaid amount shall be paid in the step mother - Asha Devi's bank account within a period of six moths from the date of receipt of this order. At this juncture, learned counsel for the petitioner made concession from Rs. 2.5 lakhs to one lakh and it was rejected in the light of standard of living at this hour. With the above observation, writ petition stands disposed off.
