1. Heard learned counsel for the parties concerned.

2. The petitioner is the wife of the deceased employee, who retired from the post of Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, Parwati Science College, Kirtinagar, Madhepura (Saharsa). The petitioner's husband died during the Covid-19 period. The petitioner is seeking payment of arrears of the salary due to her husband for the period from 27.07.1998 to 31.12.2015.

A counter affidavit has been filed by the State today, stating, therein, in paragraph nos. 6 and 7, that the Pay Verification Cell of the State Government has examined the service of the husband of the petitioner and recommended for payment of amount, identical to the requisition made by the respondent University to the tune of Rs. 39,41,276/-. It has further been stated that the Pay Verification Cell vide its letter no. 2395, dated 12.12.2023, has requested the Registrar of the University to pay the aforesaid amount to the petitioner from the available fund lying with the University.

Mr. Ritesh Kumar, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University, submits that in view of the letter, dated 12.12.2023, from the Director, Higher Education, the payment of a sum of Rs. 39,41,276/- shall be paid to the petitioner within a period of four weeks from today.

In view of the aforesaid statement made by the respondents, the present writ application is disposed with a direction to the Registrar, Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University, Madhepura (Saharsa) to pay the aforesaid amount of Rs. 39,41,276/- to the petitioner within a period of four weeks from today positively.

6. The writ application is disposed with the aforesaid direction.
