JUSTICE JYOTI SARAN ORAL ORDER 05-05-2015 Heard Mr. Vishal Saurabh, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner and Mr. Manoj Kumar, learned Assisting Counsel to Standing Counsel No.28 for the State. The limited grievance of the petitioner through the present writ petition is that his application for grant of arms licence under the Arms Act, 1959 and 'the Rules' framed thereunder has remained unattended by the Licensing Authority i.e. the District Magistrate, Rohtas at Sasaram. The copy of the application is placed at Annexure-1 and is dated 17.2.2012. The grievance of the petitioner is that although the matter has progressed and due recommendations have been received from the police authorities but no final order has been

Though a counter affidavit has been filed by the respondent no.3 mentioning therein that he has already given his recommendation but there is no response from the District Magistrate, Rohtas.

In the circumstances discussed, this Court instead of awaiting a reply from the District Magistrate would dispose of the writ petition with a direction to the District Magistrate, Rohtas at Sasaram to consider the application of the petitioner for grant of arms licence which remains pending since 17.2.2012 and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law expeditiously and preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order.
