JUSTICE MOHIT KUMAR SHAH ORAL ORDER 10-07-2024 The present writ petition has been filed seeking the following reliefs:- "1(i). That for issuance of appropriate writ order or direction of writ in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondent(s) to release the passport of the petitioner immediately, which was seized at the instance of respondent No.1 on 03.01.14 at Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi after his arrival from United States. (ii). That for issuance of appropriate writ, order or direction of writ in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondent not to harass the petitioner by way of illegal impounding of passport without any specific reasons except in

Patna High Court CWJC No.9326 of 2014(8) dt.10-07-2024 2/2 the Public interest as per the ratio laid down by Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in Smt. Meneka Gandhi Vs Union of India & Another AIR 1978 SC 597.

(iii). That a declaration be issued by way of appropriate writ/order/direction that even if a criminal case is registered against a person that by itself does not require the passport officer to impound/revoke the passport of the holder since the same is against the provisions of Article 20 & 21 of the Constitution of India particularly in the case in hand when the wife of the petitioner is filling criminal cases in routine manner in order to harass the petitioner & to get the petitioner removed from his service in Infosys Company at United States."

At the outset, the learned counsel for the petitioner fairly submits that the grievances of the petitioner has stood redressed during the interregnum period, hence, the present writ petition be disposed off.
