1. Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned counsel for the respondent-University.

2. The petitioner in the instant writ application prays for a direction to the respondents to take a decision on the petitioner's pending applications dated 29.4.2011 and 2.4.2013 for promotion on the post of Professor and to grant promotion immediately within a time fixed by this Court.

3. At the outset, learned counsel appearing for the University submits that a counter affidavit has been filed on

Patna High Court CWJC No.13333 of 2014(8) dt.19-12-2023 2/3 behalf of the respondent-University bringing on record the decision of the Screening Committee rejecting the prayer for promotion made by the petitioner as also the letter dated 2.12.2023 of the Registrar of the University.

Learned counsel for the University submits that as per the Statute for time bound promotion of Lecturers to the post of University Professors as approved by the Chancellor on 24.12.1986, Reader is required to have completed at least 25 years of continuous service for the said promotion. Learned counsel submits that the Time Bound Promotion Scheme having come to an end on 23.9.1995, the petitioner not having satisfied the condition of having completed 25 years of service, did not fulfill the required condition for promotion and as such his prayer for promotion was rejected.

Having heard learned counsel for the parties, in view of the above order dated 2.12.2023 having been passed by the University, the Court finds that nothing remains in the writ application and so far as the prayer of the writ petitioner for direction to the respondents to take a decision of his pending applications is concerned, the same has already been carried out.

6. Learned counsel for the petitioner will be at liberty to challenge the order rejecting his prayer for promotion in

7. This writ application stands disposed of.
