1. Heard the parties.

2. The petitioner appeared in the Intermediate examination for the session 2018-2020 conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board [for short "Board"] in the year 2020. She passed the Intermediate Examination in 1st Division, however, when the petitioner received her original certificate, she found her name mentioned in the certificate as "Arpita Kumari" instead of "Arpita" and in the column of mother's name the name of her father was mentioned. Further, in the column of father's name her mother's name was mentioned. Accordingly, petitioner submitted an application on 22.09.2021 duly recommended by the Principal of the College for correction in her name and also for correction in the name of

Patna High Court CWJC No.9677 of 2023(6) dt.12-12-2023 2/3 her mother and father. The application submitted by the petitioner was forwarded by the Principal, Karpuri Thakur Inter Mahavidyalaya, Motihari on 22.09.2021 to the Board.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that for the purpose of correcting the name of the petitioner and her parents original certificate issued by the Board was submitted by the petitioner however the Board issued duplicate certificate in which though the name of the petitioner has been corrected from "Arpita Kumari" to "Arpita" and name of petitioner's father was placed at the right place against the father's name, however, the name of the petitioner's mother was deleted and was not shown in the certificate. Learned counsel next submits that on the website of the Board incorrect name of petitioner and incorrect name of her father and mother in the certificate is still showing. Accordingly, his submission is that the Board may be directed to issue a fresh certificate having correct name of the petitioner, her mother and father and also for corresponding copy of certificate be pasted in the website of the Board.

4. Learned counsel for the Board submits that in the year 2020 there was no provision for having mother's name in certificate. Duplicate certificate is being issued to the petitioner as such the name of the petitioner's mother cannot be depicted.

5. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in the original certificate mother's name of the petitioner was there but against the column of father's name.

After having heard learned counsel for the parties, the fact which emerges is that correct certificate of the petitioner having father's name and correct name of petitioner has already been furnished, in original, by the Board. Since it is the case of the Board that there was no provision of mother's name in the Intermediate Examination held in 2020 and further petitioner is not in a position to produce xerox copy of original certificate having mother's name as such, this writ application is disposed of with a direction to respondent / Bihar School Examination Board to post the certificate having the correct name of the petitioner and her parents in the website of the Board. The posting of certificate in the website must be done within a period of one month from the date of receipt / production of a copy of this order.

7. With the aforesaid observation and direction, the application stands disposed of.
