Patna High Court L.P.A No.681 of 2023 dt.01-07-2025 2/3 on behalf of the appellant/writ petitioner therein, were not accepted.
2. It appears that against an appointment process for the post of Assistant Professor initiated in 2014, the appellant had applied for the post of Assistant Professor in Economics. He had the qualification of Masters in Rural Economics and had also passed his B.E.T. examination with Rural Economics as his subject. He appears to have been rejected on that ground alone, as a degree in Rural Economics was not found to be equivalent to degree in Economics.
3. The contention of the appellant before the Writ Court was that after the Agrawal Commission Report, M.A. in Rural Economics is akin to M.A. in Economics.
4. This aspect was not considered.
5. Nonetheless, the learned Single Judge foreclosed any further discussion and rightly so, on the ground that the process initiated in 2014 was concluded in 2017 and, thereafter, Bihar Public Service Commission, the recruiting body, was replaced by the University Service Commission.

6. At the time of hearing of the writ petition, the process of selection was continuing.
7. In any view of the matter, considering the fact that the contentions on behalf of the appellant are with respect to the appointment process, which was initiated in 2014 and concluded in 2017, we refrain from interfering with the judgment of the learned Single Judge.
8. A hard case though, but nothing could be done.
9. The appeal is dismissed.
