The present writ petition has been filed for grant of the following relief:- "For the issuance of Mandamus or any other appropriate writ/order or direction commanding the respondents to provide house hold connection to the petitioner's house situated at Road No. 14, Nepali Nagar, Patna at the earliest."

3.Learned counsel for the petitioner has stated that

Patna High Court CWJC No.8240 of 2024(3) dt.30-09-2024 2/3 though the petitioner has made an application and the same was received by the authority concerned. Till date, the connection has not been given to the petitioner. Learned counsel therefore has prayed this Hon'ble Court to give a direction to the respondent to process his application for connection and give the electricity connection at the earliest.

Per contra, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondent-Electricity Distribution company has stated that mere submission of the application by the petitioner will not be sufficient for giving a new connection. It is stated that once the application is accepted, and the petitioner has received the message on mobile, the petitioner is obligated to give an affidavit duly enclosing the requisite documents to show that the property for which he is seeking connection is either in his name or he has taken the house on lease from the owner and an NOC from the owner that he has no objection for grant of new electricity connection in the name of the petitioner.

5. Having regard to the above made submissions, the petitioner is directed to approach the authority concerned with an affidavit duly enclosing the above mentioned documents. On receipt of the affidavit and the documents, the authorities are directed to consider the application made by the petitioner for

Patna High Court CWJC No.8240 of 2024(3) dt.30-09-2024 3/3 new connection, strictly in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of the affidavit and documents from the petitioner.

6. With the above directions, the present CWJC stands disposed of.
