The petitioner seeks bail in Nabinagar P.S. Case No. 299/2018, instituted for offence under Section(s) 385, 387/34 of the Indian Penal Code.

It is alleged in the written report that on the date of occurrence informant and his cousin brother were returning to his village by car, in the way three persons including this petitioner came on motorcycle and demanded Rs. 25,000/- as Rangdari on the point of pistol and gave threat to kill him. It is further alleged that petitioner is a notorious criminal. Petitioner has criminal antecedent. He has been made accused in several cases.

Keeping in view the criminal antecedent of petitioner and making demand of Rangdari from the informant, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to petitioner. Accordingly, prayer for bail of petitioner is rejected.

The trial court is directed to expedite the trial. The petitioner will be at liberty to renew prayer for bail after six months in the event no substantial progress is made in trial.
