The petitioner seeks regular bail in a case registered under Sections 385 and 387 of the Indian Penal Code. The petitioner is not named in the F.I.R., but the informant alleged that he received a call on his mobile from Mobile No. 7890778332 demanding extortion.

It appears that during the course of investigation, one Mobile phone bearing SIM No. 8873011173 was recovered. The said SIM was in the name of Seikh Kalimullah, the grand-father of the petitioner, but it does not appear that the said SIM was connected with the crime of demanding extortion. The petitioner is in jail since 07.07.2014.

Considering the facts aforesaid and the fact that the petitioner has remained in jail for more than six months, the above
