There has been negligence on the part of the State Bank of India as well which led to distress of the private respondent

Patna High Court LPA No.1005 of 2017 dt.30-04-2018 2/2 when his pension was absolutely stopped by the branch and despite several representations and visits to the branch, the Branch Manager of the Bank did not bother to clarify the position to the private respondent.

These facts were the reason why the Writ Court was compelled to award cost of Rs. 25,000/- upon the State Bank of India. The Court, therefore, does not want to interfere with the order as such, but the cost of Rs. 25,000/- is reduced to 10,000/- with a warning that in future if the State Bank of India treats a pensioner in such a fashion, the cost factor may be multiplied many times.

Appeal stands disposed off.
