JUSTICE JYOTI SARAN ORAL JUDGMENT Date: 08-04-2017 Heard Mr. Prabhat Ranjan Singh, learned counsel for the petitioners and Mr. Rakesh Kumar Shrivastava, AC to GP-15, for the State.

Mr. Prabhat Ranjan Singh, learned counsel for the petitioners, has submitted that although contract period has ended but no steps have been taken by the respondents to engage fresh hands, rather in between there was also a thought for extension of the contract of the existing consultants.

Having heard learned counsel for the parties and considering

Patna High Court CWJC No.8627 of 2016 dt.08-04-2017 that in terms of the contract of engagement present at Annexures 1 series the contract of the petitioners came to an end on 31.12.2015 and a representation was filed by the petitioners before the Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department for extension of contract period, a copy of which is placed at Annexure 4, I deem it proper to direct the Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department to consider the prayer of the petitioners for renewal of their contract and dispose of the same in accordance with law bearing in mind that the petitioners have served on the project for a period of one year and in case there is requirement of a consultant on the project then the past experience of the petitioners would be a relevant consideration. The Principal Secretary would consider and dispose of the representation within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt/ production of a copy of this order.

With the aforementioned observation and direction, this writ petition is disposed of.
