1. The present writ petition has been filed seeking the following relief(s):- "1. That the petitioner above-named craves indulgence of this Hon'ble Court for issuance of appropriate order/ orders, direction/directions, writ/writs, preferably in the nature of Mandamus, commanding and directing the Respondent authority concerned, to consider the case of petitioner and to grant him J.P. Swatantrata Senani Samman Pension, who remained actively participating in J.P. Swatantrata Andolan from 18.03.1974 to 21.03.1977

Patna High Court CWJC No.10954 of 2024(2) dt.06-08-2024 2/3 and during this period he was arrested and remanded in jail on 02.07.1974 in connection with Gardanibagh P.S. Case No. 03(7)/74 in Special Central Jail, Bhagalpur, from where he was released on bail on 08.08.1974 i.e. after 37 days;

and was again arrested and remanded in Mandal Kara (Divisional Jail), Darbhanga in the year 1974 for making protest at Block office, Benipur, Darbhanga, from where he was released after 21 days; and again petitioner was arrested during emergency period i.e. on 09.08.1975 by In-charge of Bahera Police Station and was remanded in Mandal Kara, Darbhanga, from where he was released on bail after remaining 6 months in judicial custody and thus, petitioner remained in jail for about 8 months altogether, but despite submitting his application on 30.11.2007 and 13.12.2007 in the Department of Home Special, Government of Bihar for granting him J.P. Swatantrata Senani Samman Pension, till date his pension has not been fixed, the reason best known to the Respondent authority concern."

2. At the outset, the learned counsel for the petitioner seeks not to press the present writ petition, however, seeks

Patna High Court CWJC No.10954 of 2024(2) dt.06-08-2024 3/3 liberty on behalf of the petitioner to approach the Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Home Affairs, Government of Bihar, Patna for redressal of his aforesaid grievances. Liberty so sought is granted.

3. The writ petition stands disposed off.
