JUSTICE PARTHA SARTHY ORAL ORDER 15-02-2022 Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that he is confining the instant writ petition for the prayer for directing the respondents to provide police protection to the newly married couple ie the two petitioners herein.

Patna High Court CR. WJC No.995 of 2021(2) dt.15-02-2022 2/3 counsel for the State through video conferencing. The petitioners have preferred this application for a direction to the respondents-authorities to provide police protection to them as they have apprehension from their in-laws that they may be harmed because of their marriage. It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioners that an informatory petition has been filed by the petitioner no.1 before the Sub Divisional Officer, Gopalganj Sadar, a copy of which has been brought on record as Annexure-3 to the petition. Learned counsel for the State submits that there are Committees before which the representation of the applicants are placed and which assess the protection to be provided, if any.

It is thus submitted by learned counsel for the State that the petitioners may be directed to file a representation by giving all details before the S.P., Gopalganj who will place the same before the appropriate Committee and after assessment of the risk and the protection required by the two petitioners, appropriate orders will be passed.

In view of the above, liberty is granted to the petitioners to file their representation before the S.P., Gopalganjrespondent no.3 praying for protection. In case, the same is filed within a period of six weeks from today, the S.P., Gopalganj or

Patna High Court CR. WJC No.995 of 2021(2) dt.15-02-2022 3/3 the Committee, as the case may be, shall decide on the representation filed by the petitioners within a period of six weeks from the date of filing of the said representation. The petitioners shall be informed about the result of the decision of the Committee within the aforesaid period.

The application stands disposed of.
