JUSTICE JYOTI SARAN ORAL ORDER 17-03-2015 Heard Mr. Gyan Prakash, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr. Shailesh Kumar A.C. to G.P. 20 for the State. The limited grievance raised by the petitioner in this writ petition is that his application for grant of arms licence under the Arms Act, 1959 and the rules framed thereunder remains pending for necessary orders before the Licensing Authority-cum-District Magistrate, Saran at Chapra since 2008.

A counter affidavit has been filed by the District Arms Magistrate, Saran at Chapra admitting such position.

Having heard learned counsel or the parties and taking note of the submission made by the respondents in paragraph 7 of the counter affidavit as also considering that the application of the petitioner remains pending since 2008, this writ petition is disposed of with the direction to the District Magistrate, Saran at Chapra-cum- Licensing Authority under the Arms Act to consider the prayer of the petitioner and dispose of the same in accordance with law and after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner expeditiously and preferably within six weeks from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order bearing in mind the recommendations made in respect of the petitioner.
