The present Public Interest Litigation has been instituted on the basis of news report published in the daily Hindi newspaper 'Hindustan', dated 07.12.2015, relating to alleged demand of extortion from one Dr. Sunil Kumar. As per the counter affidavits filed on behalf of the Director General of Police, Bihar, as well as the District Magistrate and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Patna, the authorities have taken action by making arrest and chargesheet has been submitted. It has further been stated in the counter affidavit of the Director General of Police that whenever this type of case is reported in the State of Bihar, it is promptly and lawfully registered and appropriate investigation is done to find out
Patna High Court CWJC No.19470 of 2015 dt.11-04-2016 2/2 whether the case is true against the accused person/persons or not. Further, the police headquarters itself takes prompt action in such matters and tries its best to nab the culprit so that the rule of law is maintained.
