The present petition has been filed to renew the prayer for grant of bail to the petitioner which was earlier rejected vide order dated 07.04.2021 passed in Cr. Misc. No. 20047 of 2020.

In pursuance to the direction of this Court vide order dated 27.02.2023, a report with regard to the present stage of the trial has been received and it has been kept at Flag-R. The report of the learned Additional District & Sessions Judge-IX, Gopalganj dated 04.03.2023 suggests that out of six prosecution witnesses, two witnesses have already been examined and the trial is expected to be concluded within six

It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioner that petitioner is in custody since 24.12.2019 and up-till now the trial has not been concluded. Taking into consideration the fact that there is specific allegation against the petitioner to have caused injury to the daughter of the informant on her head by garansa, this Court is not inclined to grant privilege of bail to the petitioner for the present. The prayer for grant of bail to the petitioner stands rejected. The Trial Court is directed to expedite the trial and conclude the same within a period of six months as mentioned in the report dated 04.03.2023.

The petitioner will be at liberty to renew his prayer for bail if the trial is not concluded within a period of six months.
