2. The petitioners have approached this Court seeking a direction upon the respondents to ensure the payment of arrears of salary, in the light of the office order contained in Letter No. 923 dated 23.12.2014.

3. Both the petitioners were engaged as daily wages worker on 01.10.1980 and on 01.03.1984 in Water Resources Department, Ganga Pump Canal Division, Bhagalpur and have been working on the post of Jeep Driver and Chaukidar

It has been informed to this Court that while the petitioners were discharging their duties, they were getting nominal wages, in the meanwhile, the respondent no. 4 came out with an office order contained in Letter No. 923 dated 23.12.2014 and revised their wages. A list of 25 daily wages workers, who were to be paid their arrears since 01.02.1999, has also been issued on 08.01.2015, the copy of which is marked as Annexure-P/2. The name of the petitioners appeared at Sl. No. 3 and 4.

Notwithstanding the aforesaid facts, the respondent authorities sat tight over the matter and did not take any action, but recently, they have come out with Letter No. 1291 dated 12.11.2024, directing the petitioners No. 2 to submit some documents for payment of due arrears. It is the specific contention of the petitioners that in compliance with the letter, they have submitted necessary documents, but till date, their arrears of wages/salary have not been extended. Hence, the present writ petition.

6. Learned Advocate for the State submitted that the petitioners have already approached before the concerned authorities by filing a detailed representation, which is pending

Patna High Court CWJC No.11538 of 2025 dt.28-07-2025 3/3 consideration. However, he further seeks a short adjournment to get instruction and assist the Court properly.

Having considered the limited grievance of the petitioners, this Court deems it appropriate to dispose off the writ petition with a direction to the Executive Engineer, Ganga Pump Canal Division, Kahalgaon, Bhagalpur to consider the claim of the petitioners, as raised in Annexure-P/4 to the writ petition, especially, in the light of the Letter No. 923 dated 23.12.2014 and further the list of the daily wagers dated 08.01.2015, and settle the claim of the petitioners, preferably within a period of eight weeks, from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order, in accordance with law.

8. With the aforesaid observation and direction, the writ petition stands disposed off.
