The only grievance of the petitioner is that the statutory interest on GPF amount has not been paid for the period from 27.11.1998 till 19.5.1999.

In the counter affidavit the claim of interest per se is not denied rather it is stated that the authority slip has been issued with up-to date interest on 27.11.1998 but on account of intervening strike by the non-gazetted employees of the State Government the actual amount could be paid only on 19.5.1999.

Patna High Court CWJC No.2213 of 2012 (3) dt.21-01-2015 2/2 It is thus evident that the petitioner would be entitled to payment of statutory interest for the period from 27.11.1998 till 19.5.1999 and the respondents have no good reasons for denying the same to the petitioner. The writ application is, accordingly, disposed of with a direction to the respondents to pay statutory interest on GPF amount to the petitioner for the period from 27.11.1998 till 19.5.1999 within a period of two months from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order.
