2. The instant writ application has been filed for directing the respondent authorities to grant a licence for N.P. Bore rifle/pistol to the petitioner for the safety and security of his life and property. It is stated that an N.P. Bore rifle licence had earlier been issued in favour of the petitioner's late father and the petitioner's application, along with the necessary enquiry report and other requisite materials, is pending consideration in the office of respondent no. 2. The petitioner has further prayed for any other relief(s) to which he may be found entitled.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has filed an application dated 11.05.2023, seeking grant/transfer of an N.P. Bore rifle/pistol licence on account of threat perception and for the safety of his life and property. It is

Patna High Court CWJC No.10998 of 2026(2) dt.31-07-2026 2/2 further submitted that earlier an N.P. Bore rifle licence had been issued in favour of the petitioner's late father. Learned counsel submits that all necessary enquiries have already been conducted and reports have also been submitted before the competent authority, but no final decision has yet been taken on the petitioner's application.

4. On the other hand, learned counsel for the State submits that if the petitioner's application is pending before the competent authority, the same may be directed to be considered and disposed of in accordance with law.

5. In view of the submissions made on behalf of the parties, respondent no. 2 is directed to examine the claim of the petitioner and take a final decision on the petitioner's application for grant/transfer of N.P. Bore rifle/pistol licence, if not already disposed of, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order. The order so passed shall be communicated to the petitioner forthwith.

6. With the aforesaid observations and directions, the instant writ application stands disposed of.
