JUSTICE MOHIT KUMAR SHAH ORAL ORDER 19-08-2024 The present writ petition has been filed seeking the following relief:- "1(i). For issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus or any other writs, orders and directions commanding the Respondent no.3 i.e. the District Magistrate, Saharsa to grant Arms Licence of D.B.B.L. gun in favour of the petitioner in the light of heirloom policy of the Govt. of Bihar inasmuch as the arms licence is existing in the name of his father, for safety of his life, property and also for the safety of his family."

At the outset, the learned counsel for the petitioner seeks a direction upon the District Magistrate, Saharsa, to dispose off

Patna High Court CWJC No.12036 of 2024(2) dt.19-08-2024 2/2 the application, filed by the petitioner in the year, 2019, for grant of arms license, in light of the Heirloom Policy. 3.

Per contra, the learned counsel for the Respondent-State submits that if the aforesaid application is pending, it shall be disposed off, within a fixed time frame.

Having regard to the facts and circumstances of the case, I deem it fit and proper to direct the District Magistrate, Saharsa, to dispose off the aforesaid application, filed by the petitioner, in case the same has actually been filed and is still pending, by passing a reasoned and a speaking order, in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks of receipt / production of a copy of this order.

Accordingly, the present writ petition stands disposed off on the aforesaid terms.
