The petitioner has renewed his prayer for bail in a case registered under sections 385 and 387 of the Indian Penal Code.

As per the prosecution case, the informant received extortion calls from mobile number given in the FIR asking him to pay a sum of Rs.20 lacs or else his son would be shot dead. It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioner that the earlier application for bail of the petitioner was rejected vide order dated 8.3.2022 (Annexure-1) passed in Cr. Misc. no.46794 of 2021 giving liberty to the petitioner to renew his prayer for bail after six months. The petitioner has remained in custody since 5.6.2021.

Having heard learned counsel for the parties and taking into consideration the liberty granted to the petitioner in the earlier order of rejection dated 8.3.2022 and the period in custody of the petitioner, the Court directs the petitioner to be enlarged on bail in connection with Bettiah Town (Kalibagh O.P.) P.S. Case no. 110 of 2021 on furnishing bail bond of Rs.10,000/ (Rupees Ten Thousand) with two sureties of the like amount each to the satisfaction of the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bettiah, District West Champaran.
