The petitioner is in judicial custody in connection with Bakhri P.S. Case No. 36 of 2023 for the offence punishable under Sections 302, 120(B)/34 of the Indian Penal Code and 27 of the Arms Act lodged on 17.2.2023 by the informant, Shakuntala Devi.

As per the prosecution story, the marriage took place in 2007 but she was tortured for dowry as she had developed illicit relationship which was opposed by the deceased. The allegation is that she was asked to worship at a temple where she was killed. Accordingly, the FIR. Learned APP on the other hand submits that during investigation, the petitioner was arrested and he confessed to have paid Rs. 1,50,000/- to Saheb Choudhary who actually killed the lady. The mobile of the accused person bear testimony to the said confession.
