2. The present writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondents to deposit the salary amount of the petitioner in his bank account for March 2008 with up-to-date 18% interest.

Learned counsel for the petitioner makes a short submission to the effect that Bill No. 01/2008-09 was deposited in the Bank on 15.09.2008 by the office of the Consolidation, Madanpur (Aurangabad) which included the amount of Rs. 10,290/- towards the petitioner's salary. The said amount, however, has not been credited to the petitioner's account bearing A/C No. 01190010118 for no ostensible reason whatsoever.
4. Despite several opportunities, no counter affidavit has been filed on behalf of the respondent-Bank even after payment of cost of Rs. 10,000/- imposed upon the Bank. It is, therefore, evident that the Bank has nothing to offer in its defence.

Having regard to the nature of the grievance of the petitioner and in the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court directs the Branch Manager, State Bank of India, Madanpur Branch, District Aurangabad (respondent no. 2) to ensure that the amount of Rs. 10,290/- is credited to the account of the petitioner towards the salary, as claimed, within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this judgment. The writ petition stands allowed.
