The petitioner claims to be daughter-in-law of one Ramraj Singh, who is said to have died on 02.12.2002 while working as an Accounts Clerk in Public Health Engineering Department and Nalkup Pramandal 17, Soh Sarai, in the district of Nalanda. She has filed the writ application nearly 17 years after the death of the Government servant seeking direction to the respondents to appoint her on compassionate ground. It is the

Patna High Court CWJC No.18668 of 2019 dt.24-09-2019 2/2 petitioner's case that her husband is mentally sick and her motherin-law, because of her advanced age, was not willing and capable to take appointment on compassionate ground.

My attention has been drawn by learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner to an informatory petition said to have been filed by the mother-in-law of the petitioner, in which, she has described the manner that the petitioner was married to Raghuraj Singh, the son of the deceased employee.

5. I am not inclined to entertain this writ application for two reasons; firstly, the petitioner has approached this Court 17 years after the death of the deceased employee, and secondly, compassionate appointment is allowed in appropriate cases to protect the family of a deceased employee by providing immediate succor, on his sudden death so that family may not have to suffer the state of penury.

6. This application in my opinion, does not have any merit, and, accordingly dismissed.
