JUSTICE RAVI RANJAN ORAL ORDER 11-08-2015 This is yet another case in which though application for grant of licence of N.P. Bore rifle was submitted in the year 2010 still no decision has been taken by the competent authority. It is contended that father of the petitioner was licensee for carrying non-prohibited bore rifle which he was possessing. However, when he became too old to carry arms the petitioner being a businessman was also in need of the rifle for protection of life and property, his father expressed his desire to get the rifle transfer in the name of the petitioner. Thereafter, the petitioner made an application for grant of licence in the Month of May,
Patna High Court CWJC No.23268 of 2011 (3) dt.11-08-2015 2 / 2 2010, however, the same has remained pending even though verification report of police etc. has already been received by the licensing authority.
Though this writ application has been filed in the year 2011, no counter affidavit has been filed on behalf of the licensing authority.
Accordingly, this writ application is being disposed of with a direction to the District Magistrate, Patna to take a final decision in the matter of the petitioner within eight weeks from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order, if the same has already not been taken.
