JUSTICE VIKASH JAIN ORAL JUDGMENT Date: 19-11-2018 The present writ petition has been filed for a direction to thee respondent authorities to make correction of the electricity bill raised by the respondent 2nd set for the month of July, 2014 amounting Rs. 13,43,865/- for consumption of 236744 unit in a month against the petitioner being Consumer I.D. No. 102000037659 as also correction for subsequent month; and for connected reliefs.
2. As none appeared on behalf of the petitioner the matter
Patna High Court CWJC No.11107 of 2015 dt.19-11-2018 2/2 was passed over for a few cases. However, on repeat call the petitioner was again not represented.
3. Learned senior counsel for the respondent-Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited appears and relies on the counter affidavit to oppose the writ petition. In any event, it is pointed out that the petitioner ought to have approached the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum and thereafter Electricity Ombudsman for redressal of his grievances against raising of the electric bill.

Having heard learned counsel for the respondents and on consideration of the materials available on record, this Court is of the view that the nature of the grievance of the petitioner may well be agitated before the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum as statutorily provided under Section 42(5) of the Electricity Act, 2005. It appears that the petitioner has not availed such statutory remedy and has straightway approached this Court seeking relief.
5. In the above view of the matter, this Court is not inclined to interfere in the matter. The writ petition accordingly stands dismissed with liberty to the petitioner to approach the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum, if so advised, in accordance with law.
