The petitioner has preferred the present writ application for a direction to the respondent authorities to provide police protection to her father-in-law who is 73 years old and is apprehending threat to his life at the hands of private

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the father-in-law of the petitioner is a 73 year old person. Though, he has three sons including the one with whom the petitioner has been married, but all the three sons reside out side the state. It is further submitted that in the year 2015, at the hands of private Respondent Nos. 10 to 14, attempt on life of the fatherin-law of the petitioner was made, leading to registration of Ahiyapur P. S. Case No. 1127 of 2015, for the offences punishable under Sections 447, 448, 341, 323, 324, 307, 354, 379, 504, 504 and 34 of the IPC. Thereafter, the petitioner submitted several representations before the authorities concerned seeking protection, but in spite of that, protection has not been provided.
Learned counsel for the respondent State submits that no reason has been assigned in the present writ application for not filing the present writ application by the father-in-law of the petitioner himself who seeks protection.
Without entering into the issue of competence of the petitioner to maintain the present writ application, it is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to submit a representation before the District Magistrate and Sr. S.P., Muzaffarpur within a period
Patna High Court CWJC No.12592 of 2018(2) dt.23-08-2018 3/3 of three weeks from the date of the receipt of the order when the authority concerned will dispose of the representation of the petitioner within a period of six weeks of its submission, particularly keeping in view the national policy with regard to providing protection to the senior citizens.
