JUSTICE CHAKRADHARI SHARAN SINGH ORAL ORDER 26-06-2018 The petitioner seeks direction to the respondent Patna University to allow his admission in Ph.D. course. It is the petitioner's grievance that he had appeared for Pre-Registration Admission Test (PAT)-2017, held by the Patna University on 24th February, 2018. It is the case of the petitioner that since he was made to furnish his mobile No. and email-ID while submitting his application form, he was under bonafide belief that he would be receiving the result, also on his email-ID. The petitioner did not receive any communication in respect of the result. The result was published. The petitioner had qualified for the interview. In the absence of knowledge of publication of result, however, he could not fill up the second application form which was required to be filled up for appearing for the interview, last date for submission of which was 9th June, 2018.

Patna High Court CWJC No.11852 of 2018(2) dt.26-06-2018 2/2 The petitioner had, though gone to the University with all the documents on 21.06.2018, which was date fixed for interview of the candidates whose names started with the letters P to Z. Since the petitioner had not filled up the second application form within stipulated time, he was not allowed to appear in the interview.

Form the pleadings in the writ application and the submission which have been made on behalf the petitioner, it appears to be that only grievance which the petitioner is raising that the University failed to communicate the petitioner's result through email. It is contended on behalf of the petitioner that communication of result on email was a mandatory requirement. The said argument is not convincing to me. The petitioner's submission that he failed to check the website of the Patna University for seeing the result, and therefore, he could not know about the result at appropriate time goes against him. I do not find any merit in this application.

This application is, accordingly, dismissed.
