This writ application has been filed for the issuance of a direction to the respondents to settle the land in favor of the petitioner in terms of a letter dated May 12, 1971, issued by Sri Ful Chandra Singh Dy, Secretary, Government of Bihar, addressed to all Divisional Commissioners of Bihar instrcuted to settle the land in favor of SC/ST, OBC (Annexure 1), who is landless as the

Patna High Court CWJC No.14258 of 2023(3) dt.11-01-2024 2/2 petitioner has been cultivating the land since more than 45 years for his livelihood, i.e. bearing Khata No. 303 Plot No. 2302 Area 5 Kathas situated under Mainatand Block, West Champaran Bettiah.

3. In view of the nature of the grievance, this writ petition is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to file a representation before the District Magistrate , West Champaran, Bettiah (respondent No. 2) within a period of eight weeks from today.

4. In the event such a representation is filed by the petitioner, the District Magistrate , West Champaran, Bettiah (respondent No. 2) is directed to dispose of the aforesaid representation after hearing the parties in accordance with the law, preferably within a period of six months from the date of receipt/filing of the representation.
