The case has been registered under Sections 307 etc. of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 3,4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act with Section 17 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act.

Petitioner is not named in the FIR. Some of them do appear named therein. In such class of cases generally names may not be available to the police and it is also uniform in such cases that names appear in the confessional statements of accused persons which lead to the arrest of other such persons and their questioning by the police which further gives different leads as regards the collection of evidence in respect of commission of the offence.
