The application preferred by the petitioner for grant of P.D.S. licence on compassionate ground as his father, a P.D.S. licencee had died, has not yet been looked into and no order has been passed on such application. The learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that all necessary formalities have been complied

Patna High Court CWJC No.218 of 2022(2) dt.23-02-2022 2/3 with and the other possible stakeholders have also expressed their no objection to the petitioner being granted licence on compassionate ground.

There is no apparent good reason for keeping the petition pending for all this while.

The petitioner has sought such licence for the reason that the entire family is in economic distress with the sudden death of his father, who was a P.D.S. licencee. Under the aforesaid circumstances, we direct the respondent no. 3 to look into the application of the petitioner for grant of licence on compassionate ground and after all formalities, take a decision in that regard.

If the petitioner is found to be eligible for being given the licence, necessary sequel order also shall be passed.

If for any reason, the petitioner would not be found eligible to be given such licence, that fact also shall be communicated to him without any delay.

The entire exercise must be concluded within a period of 60 days, to be counted from the date of receipt /
