2. The petitioner is seeking regular bail in connection with Shyampur Bhathan P.S. Case No. 48 of 2025, registered for the offences punishable under Sections 308(4), 308(5) of the BNS.
3. The prosecution case, in brief, is that on 14.04.2025, at about 09:30 PM, the informant received calls from unknown mobile numbers, in which the caller allegedly abused him, threatened to eliminate him in the same manner as Subodh Rai, the former Mukhiya of Gram Panchayat Raj Rohua, and demanded extortion of Rs. 10,00,000/-.
4. The learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted
Patna High Court CR. MISC. No.64844 of 2025(4) dt.21-01-2026 2/2 that the petitioner is innocent and has falsely been implicated in this case. In his confessional statement, there is nothing against him in the entire case diary. He has further submitted that the mobile from which the ransom was demanded does not belong to the petitioner.
5. On the other hand, the learned APP for the State has opposed the prayer for bail and submitted that the petitioner has confessed his guilt, disclosing that he demanded ransom by using the mobile set of one Ravi and the video clip of the demanding ransom has become viral. The video clip has been annexed with the case diary. The petitioner has criminal antecedents of five cases.
6. In my view, the petitioner does not deserve the privileges of bail, which is hereby rejected. (Nawneet Kumar Pandey, J) Nirmal/- U T
